How ATS screens business, finance and accounting resumes
Finance and accounting roles combine credentials, systems and standards. A CPA or CFA requirement is often a hard filter, and recruiters search for the ERP and the accounting standards the team works in.
What recruiters filter and search on
- Licenses and credentials: CPA, CFA, CMA, Series 7 and 63
- Systems: SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Workday Financials, advanced Excel
- Standards and work: GAAP, IFRS, SOX, month-end close, FP&A, financial modeling
Name things the way the posting does
- State a license with its status and state: "CPA (Illinois, active)"
- Name the ERP and the close process you ran
- For new graduates, put Education near the top with degree, school and GPA if strong
What trips up parsers in this field
- Excel skills implied but never stated
- Education placed last on an entry-level resume
- Headers and contact details inside a table
