How ATS screens marketing and sales resumes
Marketing and sales roles are screened on channels, platforms and numbers. Recruiters search for the tools the team runs (HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Ads) and then look for results stated as pipeline, revenue or quota.
What recruiters filter and search on
- Platforms named in the posting: CRM, marketing automation, ad platforms, analytics
- Channels and motions: paid search, SEO, lifecycle email, account-based marketing, outbound
- Results: quota attainment, pipeline sourced, conversion rates, budget managed
Name things the way the posting does
- Name the platform, not the category: "HubSpot" or "Marketo", not only "marketing automation"
- State quota and attainment plainly: "118% of a $1.2M annual quota"
- Use the posting's channel names: "demand generation", "paid social", "SDR"
What trips up parsers in this field
- Campaign results with no number attached
- Portfolio or brand work shown only as images
- Sales titles that hide the motion (inbound or outbound, SMB or enterprise)
