How ATS screens education and teaching resumes
School districts and colleges screen first on certification and subject area. A teaching license with the right endorsement is often required, then recruiters look for grade levels, curriculum and the classroom tools you used.
What recruiters filter and search on
- Teaching license or certificate, its state and its subject or grade endorsements
- Grade levels and subjects taught, special education or ESL experience
- Curriculum frameworks and tools: Common Core, IEPs, Canvas LMS, Google Classroom
Name things the way the posting does
- State the license fully: "Professional Educator License (PEL), Illinois, Secondary Mathematics"
- Give grade level and class size in each role
- Name the assessments and programs you used by their published names
What trips up parsers in this field
- No Certifications section, so the license is easy to miss
- Student teaching left out for first-year teachers
- Achievement results stated without the measure used
