How ATS screens HR, people and operations resumes

HR and operations roles are screened on systems, compliance knowledge and scale. Recruiters search for the HRIS, payroll or supply chain systems in the posting, then look for headcount, volume or cost results.

What recruiters filter and search on

  • Credentials such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or APICS CPIM
  • Systems: Workday, ADP, UKG, applicant tracking systems, ERP and WMS tools
  • Knowledge areas: employee relations, FMLA and FLSA compliance, procurement, inventory control

Name things the way the posting does

  • Name the HRIS and modules you ran: "Workday HCM, Recruiting and Absence"
  • Give the scale: employees supported, requisitions filled, orders or SKUs managed
  • Spell out compliance areas the posting names rather than writing "HR compliance"

What trips up parsers in this field

  • Duties lists with no volume or outcome
  • Credentials abbreviated without the full name
  • Operations results with no cost, time or accuracy figure
